Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located at 3,583 meters in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas, it is part of the Char Dham Yatra. The temple is accessible via a trek from Gaurikund or by helicopter services.
How to Reach Kedarnath
- By Air: Nearest airport – Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (250 km).
- By Train: Nearest railway station – Rishikesh (230 km).
- By Road: Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun have good road connectivity to Sonprayag, from where a trek (16 km) or helicopter service to Kedarnath is available.

- Guptkashi / Sitapur: Hotels, guesthouses, and Dharamshalas.
- Kedarnath: Basic lodges, GMVN guesthouses, and Dharamshalas near the temple.

Day 1: Haridwar – Guptkashi (220 km / 8-9 hrs)
- Drive via Devprayag (Alaknanda & Bhagirathi confluence) and Rudraprayag.
- Visit Dhari Devi Temple en route.
- Check-in at Guptkashi/Sitapur hotel.
- Overnight stay.
Day 2: Guptkashi – Kedarnath (30 km drive + 16 km trek)
- Drive to Sonprayag, then transfer to Gaurikund.
- Trek or take a pony/palki/helicopter to Kedarnath.
- Visit Kedarnath Temple and attend Aarti.
- Overnight stay in Kedarnath (basic accommodation).
Day 3: Kedarnath – Guptkashi (16 km trek + 30 km drive)
- Early morning temple darshan.
- Trek down to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi.
- Overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Day 4: Guptkashi – Haridwar (220 km / 8-9 hrs)
- Return via Rishikesh.
- Visit Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and Triveni Ghat.
- Drop-off in Haridwar by evening.
